| Interesting article on how technology is affecting brain development in kids. | | |
| Although I don't think it's so hard grammatically, Japanese is quite hard because of it's Chinese characters and their different readings. Now even the Prime Minister is having problems reading. This is a good article about bumbling in another language and about the current political scene in Japan. | | |
| Kudos to Canon for their program to repopulate Japan. Personally I don't think it will make a big difference though. Check out the very last quote in this story
Sorry guys, Facebook and lack of time have taken away from my Xanga motivation.
| I've been reflecting on the Dream speech that MLK gave. I don't know he could've dreamt to see this day; but he had big dreams in a much darker time.
"I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."
This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.
With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day."
--Martin Luther King

| Can anyone think of a US election (or of any country) where not only people around the nation celebrated but people around the world? I'll remember where I was...glued to CNN while the results came in, impressed by what has happened. I didn't think America would elect a black president until later in my life, if at all. I hope it's a step to redefining what "American" leaders should be.
We heard nasty rumors in the election that Obama's background was suspicious because he has a Muslim name and lived in Indonesia as a child. I'm hoping we are moving away from old definitions of American leaders (often privileged and white, somewhat sheltered and with very little international experience/awareness). I hope we're moving away from that because that's not who we are anymore either.
